Digital drivers licences are finally available in Victoria.

The discussion around implementing the digital licence technology has all been around the access of personal data but Lachie's case proves there is a law enforcement benefit to this as well. The drugged driver who hired a vehicle with a suspended licence and used it to murder Lachie that day, may have been refused a vehicle at that Bunnings store that day if he'd had a digital licence. It could have saved Lachie's life. Unfortunately, we will never know. This has inspired to lobby hard for this initiative in the hope that it could stop another driver without a valid licence from having access to a hire car in the future.
