A current Affairs story, Channel 9

On Saturday, 8 August, Channel 9’s A Current Affair aired a deeply moving story about Lachlan, his extraordinary act of bravery, and the posthumous Gold Bravery Medal he was awarded.

The story beautifully captured not only the courage Lachlan showed in his final moments, but also the young man he was and the lasting impact his life continues to have on his family, friends and community.

For our family, seeing Lachie’s story shared nationally was incredibly emotional. We are grateful to A Current Affair and Penelope Liersch for telling Lachie’s story with such care, compassion and respect.

The recognition of Lachie’s bravery means so much to us. While nothing can ever bring him home, knowing that his selflessness has been acknowledged and that his story may inspire others is a deeply meaningful part of his legacy.

“Heroes are not defined by how long they live, but by the difference they make with the life they are given.”

Lachie was only 16, but his courage will be remembered for a lifetime.
