Thank You Bayside – Lachie’s Walk Raises Over $30,000

We are excited to share the wonderful results of Lachie’s second annual walk – and to thank every one of you for your incredible support.

Thanks to your generosity, participation, and donations, we surpassed last year’s total, raising over $30,000 with nearly 500 participants joining us on the day.

This year, the funds will support two inspiring organisations:

Fusion Mornington Peninsula

A grassroots organisation that has supported vulnerable young people and families for more than 40 years, helping them transition from foster care and avoid the risk of homelessness.

Team Sports 4 All (TS4A)

Providing underprivileged children with the chance to play team sports by covering their annual subscription fees. We’ve also launched a program to support talented young basketballers in advancing to Representative (Rep) Basketball, which costs around $1,500 per year. (See a heartfelt thank-you note from a parent below.)

Thank you for standing with us and helping Lachie’s legacy continue to change lives.

This is an email from a parent of one of our Rep basketball recipients.

To whom it may concern.

I'm writing this letter about my experience with Team sports for all.

I originally came into contact with the company through the Sommerville Police; proactive unit that helps troubled teens.  After covid 19 and for many families it was a testing time, My son already a very social kid, at the time had every type of friend, as 14 is a critical age of finding our identity and survival in school etc...I started to notice my son was starting to hang out with older crowds, this led to him attending court and getting into a couple of physical fights.

Thankfully I had some experiene in this field. I knew he needed healthy connections, hence where an officer from Sommerville advocated Team sports for all.

Little did I know this would change our lives for one of the biggest positive effects.  As Team sports for all funded his basketball and football, and then representative basketball which is absolutely amazing. This helped my son to keep healthy friendships and lifestyles, obviously due to this it starts the positive ripple effect of self worth, confidence and physical and mental health.

As sport requirements can be very financial, it can stop children from participating, I can't thank Team sports for all enough, as I would not have been in a position to afford it all.

My son made division one teams, plays representative basketball, was captain of his representative team and continues to play division one football and basketball, due to this he is currently completing his year 12 with tafe.  I think boredom can be very scary this day and age for children so having the support to keep active I feel is vital.

The support from Team sports for all did not stop there, they then helped fund my younger son who is playing the same sports, as he had the leadership and actions from his older brother. I am so grateful he never went down the wrong path with acquaintances and I feel from watching the effect it had on his older brother.

This non for profit company is life changing and saving, and I've been able to recommend other struggling families.

I honestly can not thank you enough.
